A Note To Outside Concealed Carry Training Instructors: Target World does not allow outside instructors to use our range for training. The primary reason is that we have to limit scheduled activities such as outside concealed carry classes in order to keep the range open to the public. We never know when our range will be full, so with few exceptions, we do not allow groups to schedule our range for use. If instructors were to be tying up lanes for extended periods, during busy times customers coming in to shoot would have unnecessarily long waits to get on a lane. The second reason is that we are a business that offers concealed carry training and having an on-site range is one of our differentiating advantages. Finally, from an insurance perspective, outside instructors are not covered by our insurance policy. If any incident happened that resulted in a lawsuit or injury, we would not be covered.
CONCEALED CARRY LEVEL II: (NOTE: This course meets the requirements for Ohio CHL recertifiation.) Taught by Joe Barrett, the host of Trigger Time with Joe Barrett heard Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM on 55 KRC, this is a class designed for current holders of concealed carry permits and focuses on quickly and smoothly accessing your gun and engaging the attacker. Consider this: You’re driving along, probably not paying as close attention as you should, and to your shock you see brake lights racing towards you….we’ve all been there, right? Let me ask you a question: “Do you think you could access your firearm from where you routinely carry it, get it on target and ready to fire in the same amount of time it takes you to apply the brakes in the above scenario? Statistically we know this is about as much time as you have to use your firearm in a self-defense situation. In the CCW course we did what was necessary to get your gun into your holster; now we’re going to work on getting it out! Concealed Carry II is the class that deals with those few seconds you have to access your firearm and use it effectively. We’ll spend a short time on handgun selection and grip; then we’ll delve in to carry positions, covering garments, holster selection, smooth draw, rapid target acquisition and rapid trigger management. This course is largely done in classroom, but mostly consists of practical exercises instead of lecture. This course will conclude with a timed live fire exercise, at which the student will access their concealed firearm, and engage an “attacker” while incorporating an expedited smooth draw and a lateral move and shoot response.
